Pod positioning and grain yield of common bean as affected by sowing density, nitrogen fertilization and fertilization depth

The positioning of pods in common bean directly affects grain losses mechanized harvesting. However, only few studies have assessed facttors that can affect positioning. objective this work was to determine the effect plant density, nitrogen fertilization, and fertilization depth on distribution bean. field experiments were carried out two cropping seasons, 2017 2018, during winter period Cerrado region. experimental design randomized blocks a 4x2 factorial scheme, with four replications. treatments consisted combination sowing densities (5, 10, 15, 20 plants m-1) depths fertilizer application (6 12 cm). results allowed inferring does not Plant density yield. More than quarter BRS FC104 are positioned close ground, below 100 mm, area where harvester machines operate. Nitrogen plants. At higher doses N (90 kg ha-1), should be increased. On other hand, at lower (45 must reduced. It is concluded an efficient strategy provide highest upper part plants, reducing harvest loss.
